WORK IS NOT CHILD’S PLAY. SPOT AWARD AT THE CANNES ADVERTISING FESTIVAL

In Guatemala there are over 966,000 children working in a precarious situation. In this situation the authorities have launched an advertising campaign against child labor under the slogan “Do not wash your hands. Work is not child’s play. “

With this spot the Independent Sydney agency Colman Rasic Carrasco secured a Bronze Lion at the Cannes Advertising Festival in 2008 with a Bronze Lion under the title “Different Lives”, for the MTV Asia Exit Foundation.

By contrast, in Bolivia: Evo Morales will seek his third term after allowing children to work from ten years. Morales approves child labor that goes against the Rights of the Child, proclaimed by the United Nations.

Moreover, the NGO Anesvad comes periodically launching a campaign to recover the slave girls procuring them training and decent work, under the slogan: “Sex trafficking is a destiny marked by misery for many girls in Southeast Asia”.

Also in Morocco over 600,000 children are exploited, with the complicity of the government. Ghizlane is a slave girl who gets up at 6am. She has to prepare food for the children of the house in which she bustles, dozing in the kitchen, with a “hyphae” on the pavement and a quilt. She can only lie at midnight. And she shall be deemed satisfied not being abused sexually. Ghizlane just turned 8 years.

This slavery of children has been denounced by two American organizations: Human Rights Watch and Domestic Child, in separate reports made public. These creatures are merely payed with pottage and something to wear.

According to the Pontifical Mission Societies, the figures for the slave children are creepy and complemented by other more terrible; 14 million of AIDS orphans; 600 million of poor children in the world; 130 million do not attend school; 180 million suffer from malnutrition; 250 million suffer labor exploitation, and one million children fall into the sex trade.

“When ye do with violence the first tears spilling a child, you have already put in their spirit anger, sadness, jealousy, revenge and hypocrisy,” wrote the Spanish author Azorin.
