Torrevieja’s Planning Department has processed 451 licenses for major works for the construction of new homes in the city during the first half of the year, representing an increase of 339% over the same period last year when just 133 granted.

Deputy Planning Officer, Francisco Moreno, said that the figures were "very positive" and show "consolidation of the recovery in economic activity and in the generation of employment" that, in the first seven months of 2014 have created nearly 2,000 new jobs.

He said that during the first half of 2014, 80.82% of all new homes built in 2013 have been reached and if the figure continues to increase by the same proportion through to the end of the year over 1000 new properties will have been built in the town which is good news indeed for the city of Torrevieja.
