Alberto Fabra, last week formally opened the building

The head of the Consell was accompanied both by the Councillor for Education, Maria Jose Catala, and the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolon.

Fabra, who arrived at the school rather earlier than originally scheduled, held a meeting with the staff before touring center’s facilities which he said he found to be in an excellent state l after three years spent in prefabricated classrooms. Fabra spoke to the teachers about the problems they encounter daily, including high temperatures that they have to endure with the students and the early start of the school year.

Mayor Dolon thanked the president and recalled “the difficulties faced by the school as it progressed from a prefabricated structure to a brick build building, despite the doubts that it would ever be finished.” The alderman said that it is now a center that everyone can be proud of and a building that fits the needs of the children, their parents and of course the teachers.

One of the highlights of the visit was the visit to the music classroom, where young students waved their handkerchiefs as they performed the habanera ‘La bella Lola.’
