CD TORREVIEJA ……1 TORRE LEVANTE ……2 Torry welcomed unbeaten Torre Levante to Vicente Garcia Stadium last Sunday.

Formed as recently as 1976, Torre Levante compete in tercera div for only the 2nd time in their history. Last season, they narrowly avoided relegation finishing 16th, whereas this season, their young squad occupy 2nd place in the table, 10 places above their hosts.

Unavailable for the match were suspended pair Jorge & Ekedi, as a result of last weeks sendings off at Ribarroja, giving Torry manager Galliana a selection headache he could well do without!

And the headaches continued as the visitors took a 12th minute lead very much against the run of play. As the defence switched off Jose met a delightful cross at the far post to easily beat Oscar between the sticks.

But even by this stage the home side could easily have been a couple up. First a Rani header cleared off the line and then a clear Leavante handball that the referee choose to ignore.

The penalty shout on 29 minutes was even more clear cut as Carrasco was upended by an extremely heavy challenge and then when Cristian missed a fine opportunity by shooting straight into the arms of the keeper with no other defender in sight we somehow knew that Torry weren’t going to get anything out of this half. Half Time Torry 0 Levante 1.

But how things improved for the home side in the 2nd period when straight from kick off a weighted ball from Cristian played in substitute Cesar who buried his shot from 10 yds to draw the scores level.

Alexis went close moments later as Torry piled on the pressure but once again, against the run of play, a wicked deflection from a Ritchi half hit shot had Levante back in front on 70 mins.

After this the game began to fall apart as the visitors appeared to take it in turns to spoil Torry’s attempt to play football. Brani in particular came in for rough treatment as Levante picked up a succession of yellow cards for unnecessary fouls.

And their indiscipline spread to the bench as even their manager was dismissed for getting a littl too involved. Final Score Torry 1 Levante 2.

Next weekend a long journey up the AP 7 as Torry travel to Villareal.
