NEW FOCUS RELEASED IN DECEMBER

Car manufacturer Ford has announced that the revamped version of its Focus model, which includes the European debut of the “SYNC 2” infotainment system 2, will be available to buy in Spain from December.

The president of Ford Europe, Middle East and Africa, Stephen Odell, said that Ford are not satisfied with being number 1, but rather they want to “improve” with the launch of the “amazing new version of the Focus”, which will feature a modern design, advanced technologies and fuel consumption”, which will also be “fun” to drive.

The revised model incorporates a new design in line with the One Ford strategy of the company and offers a five-door body and family version, with a renewed bonnet, skirt and trapezoidal grille.

The renovated new engine mounts in the Focus provide a 19% reduction in consumption, compared to the current model, and will be available with a 1 litre “EcoBoost 100 horsepower” engine, as well as a 1.5 litre “EcoBoost” 150 and 182 horsepower version. There will of course be a diesel alternative, with a 1.5 litre TDCi with 120 horsepower, as well as a 2 litre TDCi 115PS associated with Powershift box, and a 150 hp variant.

As for the driver improvements, the new Focus will offer a one-touch perpendicular parking system, as well cross traffic alerts and a brake assist system for in town driving. In addition, the car will feature an adaptive cruise control or the MyKey technology, aimed primarily at parents whose children drive their cars, this allows the owner to programme a key to either allow or restrict certain functions within the vehicle, such as limiting top speed and even audio volume.

As technological advances make us all more connected, the new Focus will also feature “SYNC 2”, a completely new version of their own in-car operating system that uses intuitive voice-control to make calls, change music and control the navigation all without having to divert attention away from the road. Now described as being more intelligent, the system can respond to more “human” like demands “I´m hungry”, which will prompt the vehicle to find places to eat nearby.

Although driving the new Focus may make you feel like you have suddenly become Michael Knight from the TV series Knight Rider, there are probably limitations when it comes to a desire to fight crime and catch villains, although at least you will be able to park safely and make the streets a safer place from the temptations of the lesser experience drivers.
