On Monday Torrevieja mayor Eduardo Dolon welcomed Mamen Mor Mbacke, the Spiritual Leader of Senegal, to the "Virgen del Carmen" Cultural Center, in front of representatives from the Senegalese community who are resident in Torrevieja.
The pair was accompanied by the councilors for Immigration and Citizenship, Rosario Martinez and Agustina Esteve, as well as the President of the Senegalese Cultural Association of Torrevieja, Abdourahmann Mbaye.
Valencia is currently home to more than 4,500 Senegalese with over 400 resident in Torrevieja where Mr Mbacke highlighted their excellent reception saying how tolerant and supportive the people are toward the Senegalese who reside in the local area.
He said that he was happy to return to Torrevieja so that he could continue to help with the integration of his many countrymen with the local community while Eduardo Dolon thanked him for the enormous interest he continues to show in their welfare.
Mame Mor Mbacke is currently the spiritual leader of Senegal. His doctrine promotes "Muridism" based on hard work, cooperation, education and training, as key points toward the development of their followers, plus the positive coexistence between religions and people with different beliefs.
