UNREGULATED RENTAL PROPERTIES

Tourists were asked to ensure that property owners are registered with the Ministry of Tourism.

The campaign for ‘Safe Holidays’, launched by the Business Association of Tourist Apartments Costa Blanca (APTUR) in conjunction with the Valencia Tourism Agency, stopped off in Torrevieja last week to alert customers and rental property owners to the risks of rental accommodation that is not controlled or regulated.

Along with other members of the association the President and Secretary of APTUR, Sotillos Miguel and Beatriz Pérez-Hickman, handed out information leaflets to users and owners on la avenida Libertad in front of the Casino.

Amongst the recommendations, tourists were asked to ensure that property owners or management company’s from whom they rent are registered with the Ministry of Tourism.

This will provide the holidaymaker with many safeguards including insurance for themselves or their family members in the event of injury or damage that occurs whilst they are in the property.

“It is important for customers to know that they will not encounter problems or unpleasant surprises when they get to their holiday destination,” said the president, Miguel Sotillos, who also noted that “approximately 65% of rental apartments on the Costa Blanca are not regulated and therefore offer no protection to the clients.”
