The Codex Belix Association is a group of enthusiasts which recreates historical events through re enactment of major battles.

They are sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and are regular visitors to the City of Murcia, the next occasion of which is this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday 17-19 October.

Their main campsite and display area will be set up in the Gardens of Malećon alongside the river where there will be trade stands as well as activities for all the family who are invited to go along and enjoy the many mock battles as well as the static and vehicle displays.

The detailed itinery can be found at the website www.codexbelix.com but a brief overview is listed below:

Friday 17 October:

1700: Formal opening followed by parade of vehicles and participants in full military regalia.

1845: Re enactment of the Warsaw Uprising – 1944

Saturday 18 October:

1030: Campsites and displays open to public, parades through the city.

1200: Re enactment of Independence Floridablanca – 1810

1700: Short Remembrance Service followed by Veterans Parade including Chelsea Pensioners and Members of Local Service Associations. Re enactment of WW2 Operation Plunder, crossing of the Rhine, 1944, by the British 2nd Army, under Lieutenant-General Miles Dempsey (Operations Turnscrew, Widgeon, and Torchlight), and the U.S. Ninth Army (Operation Flashpoint), under Lieutenant General William Simpson. XVIII U.S. Airborne Corps, consisting of the British 6th Airborne Division and the U.S. 17th Airborne Division, conducted Operation Varsity, parachute landings on the east bank in support of the operation. All of these formations were part of the 21st Army Group under Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery. This was part of a coordinated set of Rhine crossings.

Sunday 18 October:

1030: Campsites and displays open to public.

1130: Military vehicle parade followed by Re enactment of the Liberation of Paris.

1430: Closing ceremony
