Season 2013/2014 – “The Cream v the Cream!”

On the 11th anniversary of the www.bowlinginspain.com Awards for the best competition performers a match between last season’s winners, (the Home team) and an Invitation team, consisting of position 6 in the Rankings onwards, was staged at Santa Maria BC. The idea was to stage an event which would showcase the top bowling talent in Malaga province.

The format consisted of three matches spread over two days. The first day 2 matches were a great success, due to the quality of bowling and the very sporting manner in which they were played. The score after the first days 2 matches favoured the Home team by 11 points to 5.

Notably Terry Morgan, Away Team, of Belplaya BC, overcame Tom Rodgers, of Lauro Golf, current Andalucian Singles Champion & Singles winner of 2014 Summer Championships, by a comfortable 21-9. An amazing result in the Men’s Fours saw both teams score 9 shots each!

After the 3rd match, the Home team increased their final total to 17 points to 7, an emphatic win. However, many of the matches finished with very close scores and the general level of bowling skills was very high indeed. The most important aspect of the whole event was that all games were played very competitively, but in a very friendly atmosphere.

At the Presentation Ceremony, John Carr thanked all the participants, especially the Home & Away Team Captains, the Umpire, Gordon Adams, Markers, Gregg Elwood & Dorothy Pilmoor, Santa Maria club and Sponsors for contributing to an outstanding bowling occasion.

At the Award ceremony a Winners Trophy was presented by the sponsors to Margaret Kain, Lady Captain of the Home Team. To complete an outstanding 2 days of competition, trophies and medals were awarded to the top 5 Men & Ladies for the rankings 2013/14 season.
