MAJOR DRUGS RING BROKEN UP

In a combined operation between the National Police of Huelva, Narcotics Group of Cartagena and the Portuguese Judiciary Police, some 14 people have been arrested accused of playing a part in a major drug distribution network that operated in various countries, with bases in the Netherlands, Morocco and Portugal, as well as Spain.

Of those arrested one is a local police officer from Huelva, who was immediately suspended, and a traffic officer from the Guardia Civil.

During the arrest, 2,140 kilos of hashish was also seized and although a secrecy order has been placed on the proceedings, the detainees came before a judge in Torrevieja this week.
