CYCLE ROUTES LAUNCHED IN PILAR

Three new cycle routes around the municipality have been introduced according to Pilar councilor Eva Martinez as part of a local plan to invest in a more active lifestyle for its residents. The cost of the project is one hundred thousand euros, half of which will be borne by the Regional Ministry of Tourism.

The first route to be launched is one that runs through the municipality from Pinar de Campoverde to the coastal area and ending in Torre de la Horadada. The second circles around the pilareño town and will be known as ‘ciclocalle’. The third route will run along the coastline of the municipality from El Mojon to Mil Palmeras. Each of the routes will be off road and distinctively marked with colored routes and unique signals.

Martinez said that none of the routes involve complex or long distances as almost all are on flat ground, except that to the coast from Pinar de Campoverde which has some short hill features. “The intention is not to provide routes for athletes but more for those who want to meander along enjoying the gentle landscapes that the local countryside so the first two are about six kilometers long while the route that runs along the coast is about 15km long.”

Each of the paths will also be provided with information panels which will point out items of interest that can be seen.
