Dear residents of Ciudad Quesada….I would like all residents of Ciudad Quesada, whether Spanish or foreign, to be aware of how important it is to vote.

We live in a charming town where the majority of the population are non Spanish, yet despite this they are not very well informed about how to vote and ensure that their voice is heard.

We are all conscious of the general deterioration in Ciudad Quesada (compared with the town centre of Rojales, with streets in a poor state, lack of lighting in public places, the shameful state of green areas, need for traffic signs in certain areas and lack of services to meet our needs.

For the next local elections, on 24 May 2015, EU citizens already signed onto the Padron who have not yet declared their intention to vote will have until 30 December 2014 to do so at the Census and Statistics Department at Rojales Town Hall, and non. EU residents coming from Bolivia, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Korea, Ecuador, Iceland, Norway, New Zealand, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago will have until 15 January 2015 to make their application at the Town Hall.

It is vital that we all ensure that we can vote and participate in the forthcoming elections, and make it known that foreigners are the majority and not, as they are perceived, the minority. It is important that we know about the proposals put forward by the different political parties and take a look at the promises made previously that have never been fulfilled.

The majority of the Rojales population are foreign and that is why it is important to register before 30 December and make sure that you vote in May.

Many of the residents of Ciudad Quesada, like me, have been very disillusioned, living with unlit streets for years, and walking through supposedly green areas full of dead plants and trees due to the absence of any maintenance. It is time that the foreign residents knew their rights and obligations and this is possibly the time to shout out and be heard (once and for all).

IF WE WANT OUR NEEDS MET THEN IT IS OUR DUTY AND OBLIGATION TO VOTE.
