Over a two day period last week, the final calibration tests took place at the new Murcia Regional Airport of Corvera this week, thus completing the final technical hurdle to allow the airport to open.
These checks are the same as those conducted by a specialist aircraft from the airport authority AENA, which took place in April and September, 2012, to establish the suitability of the air corridor required for aircraft operations, in a plan established by the technical committee composed of the Ministries of Defence and Development.
The next stage in the process is scheduled for Monday the 15th of December, in which the state aviation authority, AESA, although certification would require consistency in the naming of the airport operator.
Advocates of keeping San Javier open to passenger traffic have also been to Brussels this week, to try to enforce a further delay in the transfer of operations.
