CYCLING TOUR OF SPAIN TO VISIT TORREVIEJA

For its 70th anniversary race, the 2015 cycling Tour of Spain will be visiting Torrevieja this year, on the ninth day of the event which will take place on the 30th of August, the first time the tour has visited the area since 2011.

On day eight, the tour will take the riders through Murcia, where they will then transfer to Torrevieja for the next stage which will see them leave the city heading towards Cumbre del Sol in Benitaxell.

The Orihuela Costa played host to the cyclist in both 2010 and 2011, when the final stage reached the Orihuela Costa.

The race will start in the Málaga town of Puerto Banús on the 22nd of August, as presented this week by members of the Diputación de Málaga, with the second and third stages also taking place in the Málaga area.

The route then heads west towards Cádiz, north towards Córdoba, then east towards Murcia and Torrevieja, via Granada. Having then left Torrevieja, the cyclists will head north along the coast towards Valencia and Castellón, before taking in the north of the country and finishing in Madrid on the 13th of September.
