TRAGIC MURDERS IN EL ALTET

A man in his 70´s has reportedly committed suicide after first killing his former partner and her sister, it is alleged.

The incident occurred in the Elche town of El Altet at round noon on Monday, with the Judicial Police now investigation the circumstances.

Early indications reveal that the man may have used a blunt object to attack the two victims, before hanging himself.

The alleged perpetrator of the double murder had been denounced for domestic violence by his ex-wife in August of 2013, on account of continued psychological abuse, but was acquitted in November. A temporary restraining order was no longer in force but the case was being monitored by the specialist gender violence team of the Elche local police.

Upon receiving the alert of the incident, two emergency ambulances, two private ambulances and numerous forensic teams attended the scene in a “quiet” urbanisation of around 80 homes.
