If you like original craftwork you could do worse than visit the weekly craft fair in Xàbia (Jávea).

Every Saturday morning between 10 and 15 craftsmen and women set up their stalls in the square in front of the Post Office near the old Town Centre (Plaza Marina Alta), to sell their pottery and ceramics, their lamps made of recycled wood or twisted wire, their wooden toys or hand painted T-shirts and bags, or their own designs in jewelry.

Every stall offers something different, all original items that you won’t find anywhere else. The craftsman or woman can explain how everything at his stall is made and they also accept special orders. Some forty people participate in these fairs, taking turns so that every week there is something different to see.

At http://www.amata.es/Javeasemanal.html you can see who is coming when and photographs of preceding weeks you can find at http://www.amata.es/JaveaSat15.html.

For more information (also in English) you can ring the organising association Amata at 639 979 678.
