The aircraft which crashed was a new plane set to be handed over to Turkey as part of a deal to purchase ten of the new aircraft destined to replace the aging Hercules transport aircraft.

The destroyed aircraft, which crashed on a test flight with a Spanish crew on board, was due to be delivered to Turkey next month, according to manufacturer Airbus.
