VISTABELLA RULE AT THE LA SIESTA 3 DAY TRIPLES COMPETITION.

Derek Stevenson, Barbara Brown & Ian Kenyon Joined Charlie Watkins, Maggie Furness & Eric Bishop in an all Vistabella Final at the La Siesta 3 day triples comp last weekend. Ian’s team won their group to go head to head in one semi against Mike Edwards Greenlands trip while Eric’s team played Gordon Fishers MonteMar trip in the other.

Both semi’s were brilliantly played by all teams, the winners being the two from Vistabella teams. The Final was played on a rink which hadn’t been played on for the duration of the competition, it was a shame as the final was not as thrilling as the semi’s, the same for Ian & Eric’s teams but never the less a difficult rink.

After ten ends Derek, Barbara & Ian were the deserving winners, we salute you! Well done Vistabella for keeping it in the family…so to speak.

VCL Red league Vikings were at home where they earned a good result over the MonteMar Lords, Maggie Furness won the Ladies Singles 21-19 after a tightly fought game, the Men’s Singles was a mirrored game but went the other way 19-21. Steve Pearson & Eric Bishop won the Pairs 17-11, Lynne Bishop, Barbara & Arthur Brown won the Triples 25-16. Jenny & Dave Chaplin, Les Barber & Jenny Bowman managed a draw of 15-15 in the Rinks. Points, Vikings 9 (97) – 3 (82) Lords.

The Saxons had a bye this week.

SABA Spitfire Fairways played away against the San Miguel Christians, four great wins and the Long game made it a satisfying mornings bowling. Sandra burrows, Neil Burrows & Arthur Brown 23-7. Jenny Chaplin, Mike Regan & Richard Lee 24-10. Geoff Paylor, Andy Leggatt & Eric Bishop 21-12. Lynne Bishop, Dane Howard & Ken Cuthbert 16-8. Points, Fairways 10 (101) – 4 (77) Christians.

The Greeners had a bye to enjoy doing whatever took their fancy.

Our men’s four wood pairs won 4-1 on their first match, well done boys. The Premier twenty league gets on the road this week, we are the reigning champs so we need your commitment to defend the title, if your names are not down already then see Charlie Watkins.
