CLR Lose Orihuela Summer Court Case
The administrative court in Elche has dismissed a case brought by Pedro Mancebo and Juan Ignacio López-Bas of the CLR political group against the then acting mayor of Orihuela, Antonio Zapata.
CLR had complained to the courts that by not having the plenary meeting in August of last year, and by moving it to September, violated their fundamental rights.
However, the judge felt that there was no requirement to hold the meeting in August, especially as this is not a normal working month for the town hall, and so dismissed the case.
The Socialist Party issued a statement about the “absurd attempt by the opposition to discredit and question the reputation of the Socialist councillors”, as their “attitude and leadership of the government was successful and with scrupulous respect for the law”.
Pedro Mancebo and Juan Ignacio López-Bas are now condemned to pay the costs of the court case.
