Lucky Escape from Girona Plane Crash
A French couple escaped unhurt on Friday when their light aircraft crashed into a fence and burst into flames whilst landing at the Empuriabrava airfield at Girona.
The initial reports from the scene suggest that the plane´s landing gear hit the guardrail protecting the C-260 road and subsequently impacted with the runway.
An investigation is being carried out to determine if the crash was caused by human or mechanical error, but the lucky couple escaped with nothing more than a few scratches.
