Weather Warning Continues
As the weather alert remains in place for high temperatures until at least Tuesday, Sunday saw thermometers reach 40 degrees in the centre of Orihuela.
Alcoi and Alicante peaked at 39 degrees on Sunday, whereas most other places were between 37 and 38 degrees.
Meanwhile, following an increase in the number of deaths by drowning, the interior ministry is advising everybody to take extra precautions when cooling down in the water, taking special care of young children and being extra watchful of their activities.
