Local residents took photographs of the officer parking his silver Audi which they said had been used for at least three days.

The pictures were sent to the local council who then issued a 200 euro fine for each of the three occasions he parked there, plus a 45 euro fine for not correctly displaying an ITV sticker.

The officer is also facing disciplinary action which was initiated when the case was first brought to light in March.

Meanwhile, a local police patrol in Oviedo became the victim of a prank, when an unknown passer by placed a “for sale” sign on the back of one of their older vehicles.

The officer in charge of the vehicle carefully removed the sign, under the watchful eye of the nearby amused passersby.
