In addition to local and regional ground crews, a helicopter and two planes joined in the battle to control the flames, with all indications pointing to the fire being caused by reckless behaviour, most likely as a result of inconsiderate human activity.

Around 3,000 square metres of Pine Forest were destroyed in the Guardamar and La Marina area with the lack of wind allowing for the fire to be controlled quicker.

The entire area remains on high alert for forest fires with everybody being asked to be extra vigilant, especially in disposing of smoking materials and other rubbish, as the majority of these types of fires are caused by human interaction.
