Smell Control Calls
The mayor of Torrevieja, José Manuel Dolón, has written to the water supply and waste treatment company, AGAMED, asking them to take urgent action to reduce the odours from the waste treatment plant on the south side of the city, a smell which is often noticeable on the N-332 main road which passes near to the area.
The mayor has pointed out that the residents of the Barrio de San Roque area have had to put up with the smells from the site for many years, and have even collection signatures on a petition in the past, as the smell is often almost unbearable.
This is the first time the government of Torrevieja have attempted to take action on behalf of the residents, despite the Ombudsman calling for action previously.
