Books Not Bull Fights

The town hall in the Toledo town of Villafranca de los Caballeros has announced that it has withdrawn subsidy for bull fights this year.

Instead, the 18,000 euro set aside in the annual budget will be used for an aid program to subsidise school text books and supplies for families who are facing financial difficulties.

The department of education in the PSOE government, Marta Guerrero, has said that “the PSOE gave a commitment in its electoral program to ease family economies, whereas the Mayor, Julián Bolaños, says that there should be no other commitment than “the education of our children”.
