Ambulance Concerns for Dangerous Fiesta
Elche will have an increase in ambulances for one of the most dramatic and dangerous fiestas on their summer calendar, the Nit de l’Albà, when thousands of fireworks are ignited above the eager crowd.
The municipal government has announced that there will be a total of 10 ambulances on standby on the nights of the 13th and 14th of August, although these ambulances will be basic life support units, and there will still be a lone paramedic unit covering the entire city.
Elche normally has 2 paramedic ambulances but one of these is relocated to the coast for the summer season.
The event usually ends with numerous people injured, one of the worst being in 2008 when 23 people were injured on the night.
