More Tragedy in the Sea
A 71-year old bather died at the weekend after apparently drowning off the coast of Torrevieja.
This latest tragedy bring the total number of deaths by drowning this summer to 17 across Valencia, since the official start of the summer season on the 20th of June.
A total of 69 people have been attended to by the emergency services, mostly in the Alicante province, far more than were attended to last year.
Throughout the entire summer of 2014 there were 33 people killed and a total of 38 attended to by the health service.
The health department are calling on everybody to be extra vigilant and take additional precautions in and near the sea and swimming pools in order to try to reduce the number of casualties in what is looking set to be one of the bleakest summers on record.
