The British Foreign Office and the British Embassy in Madrid are asking ex-pats living in Spain to remind their family and friends that are visiting them over here to make sure that are covered by adequate travel and health insurance. The Foreign Office claims that a survey of people who lost their passports whilst on holiday to Spain this summer revealed the startling figure that around twenty percent of them had come over here without any form of insurance. The British authorities have described as a “Getaway Gamble” and want all travellers to Spain and across Europe to be adequately covered as well carrying an up to date European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
