Torrevieja town hall has launched a special plan to control the expected onset of mosquitoes, following a wet week in the area.

A private company has been employed to strengthen the work of the municipal brigades in applying pesticides to the lagoons where the young mozzies are about to hatch.

The town hall has explained that it is impossible to completely eradicate the presence of mosquitoes, which is good news for the birds who are waiting to feast on them once they start to appear. Any significant reduction in the numbers of insects will have a direct impact on the number of birds and further implications for the natural environment of the area.
