On Monday, a total of 25 endangered loggerhead turtles will be released back into the sea to start their new life on the ocean waves.

The turtles are part of a nest which was located in San Juan a year ago and will be released into the sea at around 5pm at the playa del Carabassí on the Elche coast.

Around 130 eggs were found and taken to safety with this first batch being the strongest of the offspring as they will have more of a chance of surviving in the wild.

The Valencia coastline is becoming increasingly popular with turtles who commonly return to their place of birth to lay their own eggs.
