283 claims on public insurance have been made in Alicante Province following the storms that first hit the region 12 days ago. The Ministry of Development has authorised the public insurance body, El Consorcio de Compensación de Seguros (CCS), to make available funds of up to four million euros to compensate those affected by some twelve hundred reported incidents recently in the Valencia region, with Torrevieja(pictured), one of the worst places to be hit. Nationally 13 million euro are being allocated, though the CCS says that the number of claims nationally is massively lower than during some major flooding back in 2012, when more than 210 million euro of compensation was paid out.
