The mayor of Torrevieja, José Manuel Dolón, was amongst delegates at a reception held by the British Ambassador to Spain, Simon Manley, accompanied as usual by the British Consul, Sarah-Jane Morris, which was held in Alicante in order to discuss ways in which the Top Ten Towns favoured by British ex-pats can be more involved in integration programs.
Urging the Brits to learn Spanish was the top of the suggestions, which can help avoid many of the day-to-day issues experienced by foreigners who have migrated to another country, especially in places like Torrevieja where the use of social and health services are apparently two of the most important considerations for British immigrants.
The Ambassador also stated that the Embassy will be active in encouraging foreigners to register and become fully documented in Spain, another matter which causes problems for foreigners.
