The Ministry of Public Works has approved a project that will see major improvements to the access roads to Alicante-Elche airport.

The plans will improve the notorious stretch of road that leads from the N-332 and the motorway network, at a project cost of 29.3 million euro.

The work will involve widening the existing route for most of the stretch, and improving the access junctions.

The road is the only main way into and out of the airport complex and is also the link between the two major road networks, which means not only is it used by a considerable number of vehicles on a regular basis, it is also known for being the location of a number of crashes and collisions.
