Orihuela Costa Ambulance Delays Continue to Cause Concern
The Orihuela based C.L.A.R.O. political group has once again had cause to highlight the urgent need for the completion of the Emergency Centre on the Orihuela Costa, after an injured boy had to wait 20 minutes for the arrival of an ambulance on Friday night.
A video of the boy lay on the road has been shared through social media after the boy had been in collision with a car in the la Ciñuelica area.
Well known as the “golden hour” following a serious incident, the fact that the boy had to wait 20 minute meant that a third of the most precious time following a serious incident had ticked away, as he lay in the road not knowing how long it would be before life-saving help could arrive.
Those who witnessed and were involved in the incident have praised the Local Police, who arrived at the scene within minutes, despite their lack of resources, rendering first response emergency care until the medical professionals arrived.
Once they were able to attend, two ambulances gave assistance to the boy, having transferred their resources from other areas, thus leaving other areas vulnerable.
For C.L.A.R.O., this is the latest incident that highlights the need for the emergency centre, which has been paralysed for a number of years, despite the prosperous growth of the area and the increase in residents and visitors, which plays host to around 40,000 regular residents as well as the numerous visitors who come to the area on a daily basis, who are left vulnerable by the lack of emergency medical care.
