Missing Brit found dead in Benidorm
A man from Nottinghamshire who has been missing for almost a month in Benidorm has been found dead, the Foreign Office has confirmed.
Friends shared Facebook posts asking for holidaymakers to help with the search after it emerged his passport and luggage had been found in a bar.
Spanish and UK authorities had been working together to try to find John Elkington, 45, who has lived in Hucknall and Bleasby.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office said: “We are providing support to the family of a British national who has sadly died in Benidorm, Spain.”
A message posted on Facebook read “It is with great sadness that we’ve had the news that John has passed away, the pubs will certainly be quieter without you, RIP John I’m sure you still partying hard up there 💙 X thank you to the 893 people who shared this x”
