Two Guardia Civil officers were injured on Sunday when their vehicles crashed in the centre of Torrevieja whilst attempting to apprehend a suspect believed to have committed an act of burglary.
Several patrols were in the area following the burglary in the Los Locos area of the town. The officers were searching for the suspect who had tried to evade capture having suffered a puncture in his escape vehicle and so continued on foot.
The two injured officers were involved in a crash at the junction of Calle María Parodi and Calle Caballero de Rodas, one vehicle colliding with a tree, the second with a column.
The officers were taken to Torrevieja hospital with one having suffered a neck injury, the other with bruises.
The fleeing suspect was captured and arrested.
