A van driver was arrested in Torrevieja on Tuesday, found to be three-times over the legal alcohol limit.
The arrest occurred following a collision between two trucks which left one person injured and having to be treated at Torrevieja hospital.
The incident occurred on the main coastal road to the south of the city in the vicinity of a popular supermarket. Both vehicles were heading in the same direction.
The van being driven by the driver found to be over the limit impacted with the rear of a grua truck with some force, with the back of that vehicle becoming embedded in the cab.
The passenger in the rear vehicle was subsequently trapped and had to be freed by fire fighters before being taken to hospital, although his injuries were not thought to be serious.
The incident caused considerable delays during one of the busiest times in the city, with afternoon traffic disrupted for around an hour.
