Following numerous complaints by local residents, the Local Police in Rojales have acquired vehicle speed detecting equipment from the DGT in order to try to control vehicles who drive at excessive speed through the municipality.
The Chief of Police, Iñaki Esparza, says that there are at least 10 areas in the municipality where neighbours have raised concerns about speeding vehicles, and it is the intention of the police to control these “dangerous places” by monitoring and sanctioning “motorists not respecting the speed limits”.
The equipment is installed within a patrol vehicle and is capable of constant monitoring of a road section, In addition, the police have also obtained a breathalyser and the associated equipment to enable them to issue fines by the roadside.
