A 62-year-old doctor has given birth to a baby girl by Caesarian section in the city of Lugo, in Galicia. Lina Alvarez made national headlines last month when she revealed that she was pregnant after undergoing fertility treatment.

Her pregnancy sparked a debate in Spain as she faced criticism for having a baby in her sixties. However, the doctor dismissed the criticism, saying she feels half her age.

“I feel like a woman in her 30s. To feel better than this is impossible,” she said at the time. “I feel rejuvenated due to the hormonal changes and the joy that I feel.”
