Alicante-Elche airport recorded a big 19.5 percent rise in passenger numbers in October, compared to a year earlier. Alicante-Elche airport recorded a big 19.5 percent rise in passenger numbers in October, compared to a year earlier. Official figures logged over one point two million travellers using the airport, and as reported by The Courier last week, there was a symbolic moment of the eleventh million passenger passing through at the start of November to get a record yearly figure with two months remaining of 2016.
Of the one point two million in the October total, 525,000 people came from the UK, followed by 100,000 domestic travellers, with Germany clocking in at 92,000, followed by Holland with 84,000.
San Javier airport welcomed over 116,000 passengers in October which was actually half a percent more than a year earlier, thanks to more flights coming into the facility, and ended a five-month streak of successive falls. So far this year, the airport has received just over a million passengers, which is one percent down on the first ten months of 2015.
