A 12-strong gang of violent robbers who struck at petrol stations and private homes across the Campo de Cartagena have been have been arrested in the area, in addition to one detention in Orihuela.
The Guardia Civil say they have evidence of at least 20 crimes including 11 robberies with violence and intimidation, with the male and female gang members having Spanish, Ecuadorian, and Colombian nationality.
Five people have had bail refused by a Cartagena judge, with the gang said to have stolen at least 160,000 euro of cash and jewellery in the Campo de Cartagena area, as well as assaulting and tying up many of their victims.
