A British man living on the Northern Costa Blanca has denied downloading child pornography at a trial that started this week at the Alicante Provincial Court. The defendant from Calpe was arrested 12 years ago and accused of possessing obscene images on an external hard drive, and at that time claimed that the material was used to counter the fact that he was impotent, and that he was acting on medical advice.
At this week’s hearing, though, the unnamed man changed his testimony and said that he had not accessed the child pornography at all. Prosecutors are wanting a seven-year prison sentence if he is found guilty, but that could be reduced to just a year, if it is proven that he wasn’t going to distribute the obscene material.
