Forty guinea pigs were found dumped last Thursday next to the main access roundabout to Pinar de Campoverde. The strange find was made by a passer-by who alerted the animal charity ADAM, who carried out a thorough search of the area, and discovered some 20 animals that were still alive.
Catching the guinea pigs was not easy, but the volunteers rounded them all up, with some suggestion that because of the young age of some the animals, they would have been abandoned by a breeder. The guinea pigs are all being kept at the home of an ADAM volunteer, with the charity (in conjunction with the Pilar local police) filing a complaint to the Guardia Civil’s environment team, Seprona, based in Guardamar.
