A major Orihuela Costa group has slammed Orihuela council and the mayor, Emilio Bascuñana, for failing to deliver on a variety of promises for improvements to the area. La Federación de Asociaciones de Orihuela Costa (FAOC) claims that residents feel let down by the 18-month-old Partido Popular-led administration after being led to believe early on that changes would be made.
FAOC has produced a laundry-list of demands, including complaints over the state of refuse collection and cleaning services; the non-repair of landslide areas at Cabo Roig and Cala Capitán; the need for extra floodwater protection; a call to improve the quality of road surfaces; and the cleaning up of algae-affected beaches at locations like La Zenia (pictured).
