The Mastral Project that monitors the weather in the Torrevieja area said that said that some flakes did fall in the city in the fifties and sixties without settling, and so Wednesday’s fall, which did offer a covering for a time around the city, was the biggest since 1926, and an opportunity for people to see snow for the first time ever!

The beaches on the Orihuela Costa as well as the Pilar de la Horadada area(photo on the AP-7); plus San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier all got a rare dusting, but it was comparatively minor compared to the bigger falls in the northern areas of Alicante Province around the Marina Alta, which led to road and school closures.
