Elderly British Man Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing His Wife to Death at an Alicante Care Home

The Guardia Civil arrested an 86-year-old British man on suspicion of killing his wife at a retirement home in El Campello, north-east of Alicante City. The incident happened at around 9.00 am on Sunday, with his wife, aged 79 and also British, stabbed to death, with the man allegedly then trying to harm himself. He was taken to Alicante General Hospital with what were described as superficial injuries.

The drama unfolded at the Orbea Buenavista residential home in the Muchavista beach area of El Campello, with a worker at the facility saying that the couple had not lived there long. A Guardia Civil spokesman said that “they were investigating the death of a woman aged 79 who was allegedly attacked by her 86-year-old husband with a bladed weapon.”
