San Javier Mayor, José Miguel Luengo, met on Monday with Francisco Abri, Director General of the “Simplification of Business for the Digital Economy” organisation, who said that the project would be pioneering for Spain, with not just Wi-Fi on beaches, but also special umbrellas provided where mobile phones can be recharged, and the creation of special apps full of relevant information to tourists and local residents.
A number of beaches will see the scheme piloted before an extensive roll-out across the area.
