The Brits are Still Coming – On Mass
Falling exchange rates and Brexit fears do not seem to be bothering UK tourists coming to the Costa Blanca, according to latest figures from the National Statistics Institute.
On the back of a record 2016 for foreign tourism, the January returns show a massive 32 percent hike in the number of British visitors coming to the Costa Blanca, compared to a year earlier.
The statistics for the first month of the year saw 401 thousand foreign visitors coming to the region, an overall rise over 12 months of 26 percent. UK tourists accounted for 128 thousand of the figure, with French visitors second at 66 thousand.
Murcia’s foreign visitors in January leapt up by 35 percent over a year, with 15 thousand British visitors accounting for 37 percent of the overall figure, some 11 percent more compared to January 2016.
