Three and a half million euro is to be spent to stop flooding in the San Javier area, with the
construction of a new drainage system and floodwater tank in Santiago de la Ribera on Avenida Patrulla Águila.
The accumulated water will be made available to local farmers via the local water treatment plant, and will also stop contaminated water seeping into the Mar Menor. Most of the project, though commissioned by the Murcia government, is being funded by the European Union.
