The mayors of Redován, Algorfa, Jacarilla and San Miguel de Salinas have come together to launch a national campaign to stop women being harassed in the street with sexist and foul language, or even forms of physical assault.
Redován Mayor, Emilio Fernández, called for Spain to create a law over “street harassment”, which is already in place in Australia, Belgium, Peru, and Argentina, whilst other countries are looking to introduce similar legislation.
Fernández was joined by his counterparts Manuel Ros from Algorfa; Ángel Sáez from San Miguel; and the Jacarilla mayor, Pilar Díaz.
